7 Hills Advisors is the only firm focusing exclusively on representing tenants and commercial users of space with offices in Central and Southeastern Virginia. Why is this important? We do not represent any professional landlords for leasing or property management, which eliminates all existing and future conflicts of interest. This allows for total objectivity to effectively evaluate and negotiate all alternatives. Additionally, our in-house workplace strategy and project management capabilities enable our team to provide comprehensive service from planning to the successful completion of a project.

Cole is a 1999 graduate of the University of Virginia and spent his college summers working in various professions and trying to fly fish as many western rivers as possible. Interested in a career in sports marketing, Cole headed south to Atlanta, GA after graduation. While working for the Atlanta Braves, Cole realized that both the size and sprawl of the big city and the nature of the sports marketing business were not a good fit for him.
A random set of circumstances and some good fortune brought Cole to Austin, TX, where he joined the Trammell Crow Company. At Trammell Crow, he was mentored by an incredible individual who shared his passion for real estate and for the tenant representation business with Cole. Since moving to Austin in 2001 and relocating to Richmond, VA in 2006, Cole has remained exclusively focused on representing commercial users of real estate. What drives Cole professionally and intellectually is the strategic element involved in achieving the best possible solution for his clients. On a personal level, Cole is motivated by his family, friends and a love of the outdoors.

Through the good fortune of my dad’s profession (USMC Fighter Pilot), I spent my youth on adventure, traversing the country from coast to coast, until finally landing in DC, by way of Central Texas and JMU (class of ’95). I was wooed from DC to RVA in 2000 by my longtime employer, Parkway Properties. After 16 years with Parkway, where I was fortunate to work with great people, wear many different hats and learn an incredible amount, I decided to make a major change, partnering with Cole and Andrew to form 7 Hills Advisors.
Making the change to 7 Hills is like traversing the country again. It is remarkable to be trailblazing with great people. 7 Hills is passionate about our work…we make a difference to our clients, diving deep to understand their objectives, goals, growth, challenges, and culture. We understand that space should be a tangible extension of our client’s brand and vision, with terms as economical as possible and offering maximum flexibility. With the exception of a two-year period where Pope earned an MBA with a concentration in real estate from the University of North Carolina’s Kenan Flagler Business School, Pope has spent his entire 15 year career working in commercial real estate in Hampton Roads. Prior to opening the 7 Hills Hampton Roads office with Damon Josue, Pope was an Associate Director at JLL where he was one of the top revenue producers annually. Pope began his career underwriting all types of commercial property as an investment sales analyst at CBRE.

Having worked at larger firms, Pope realized he could be more effective on behalf of his clients by:

  • Specializing exclusively in tenant representation
  • Eliminating landlord conflicts
  • Having more time for every client
  • Partnering with great people with complementary skill sets to provide a more complete level of service


Pope is a 2001 graduate of Washington and Lee University where he twice served as captain of the lacrosse team and earned All-American and academic All-American honors. In 2014, Pope was inducted into the Washington and Lee Athletics Hall of Fame. In high school, Pope was the 1997 Richmond Times Dispatch Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Pope lives in Virginia Beach with his wife Erin, their son, and two dogs. He coaches youth travel lacrosse and will find any excuse to be on the water fishing or surfing or in the water spearfishing.
